Does the same RAM card work for all computers?

Does the same RAM work for all computers (Desktops and Laptops) if not do the same work for all laptops and another for all desktops?

Someone has offered to give me a free PC133 SD-RAM and I am not sure if this will be useful for me.

Thank you

Does the same RAM card work for all computers?antivirus

heck NO, they all different

SD-RAM is different to DDR RAM is different to DDR2 RAM is different to DDR3 RAM is different to RD RAM is different to EDO RAM

besides, desktop RAM is different to laptop RAM

now, if you could connect each of these computers to the internet, you could have them individually scanned, to find out exact what each of them hold

i dont think they RAM of pcs and laptops are the same. You could go to this link and have your pc scanned to know what compatible RAM is for you;

here's the link:

i hope this helps
There are different kind of RAMs for different kinds of board architecture, some motherboard architectures supports SDRAM e.g. Pentium 3 architectures. While Pentium 4, Celeron D, and some AMD architectures support DDRAM, DDRAM2. In short, different computers runs different types of RAMs.
There are PC (Microsoft orientated) computers and Mac (Apple orientated) computers. The PC 133 SD-RAM card is developped for PC's. It probably won't work on an Mac computer. While PC133 SDRAM can be used with motherboards having a 100MHz front side bus, your memory will only operate as fast as the slowest ''link'' in your system, in this case the motherboards 100MHz front side bus. As an example, if you were to install a PC133 module in a system with a 100MHz FSB, or in a system already containing a 100MHz module, the PC133 module will operate only at 100MHz. PC133 SDRAM is available only in the form of a 168-pin DIMM (as it pertains to personal computers).
No,different computers use different types of RAM. You can only use the RAM your computer supports.
No their all different, basically every laptop uses a different type of RAM...

Open up the back of yours and compare them to see if it matches the shape/design. If it does then it will work.

Desktops mostly use the same type, but it depends on the mother board.
Check out if ur motherboard supports the particular ram card. If it does then u are through...
